Daytona short track is so different then any other place. You can test and train ride and think you are ready but you’re not. The first day I got there it was raining but the track was hard so the water was running off it. They started practice on time and in the first practice I felt really good and of course it wasn't timed. For the second practice the track had developed some holes and I kind of struggled with suspension. I came in and told Mike Boughner from Boughner Racing what the bike was doing and he changes some things. I went out for the last timed practice and the bike felt better but not the way I wanted it. We had a long break so we talked it over with what we were going to do and Mike and Morgan just started to work.
Heat race I was in the second one and I had Halbert, Baker and some other fast guys .I got the hole shot and lead for couple of laps and then Halbert past me and then baker, so I just studied their lines and hung with them but couldn't do nothing with them.
In the main I was inside second row and was ready to go. I got an ok start but just couldn't move forward at all. I really didn't have opportunities for good passes just stayed in 7th and that's about it.
The second day I really wanted to improve and I knew we were on the right track with set up with the bike. In practice I felt way better and the bike was good. The track was a little different because it was way harder and was laying a groove down. I knew we were ready for the heat after practice and just made some changes to the bike.
In the heat I didn't get that good of a start I think I was around 5th and knew I needed to get it together if I was going to make the main out of the heat. I worked my way up to 3rd and by that time the race was over but was right on the leaders.
Main event I was second row second one out and I knew I had to beat the guy on my inside to turn one so I could stay low and stay out of trouble. We took off and didn't beat him but we had a red flag so that gave me a second chance .I was ready this time and beat him to turn one. I got off ok around 7th and had to pass 33 and 4 and set my sights on Lewis I knew we were catching Baker and Johnson so I just followed him and once we got to them Lewis took off and I just couldn't run his pace. .I ended up 5th and was some what happy about it but we are down in points and it is going to be hard to make it up.
